#IWSG: 2015 Goals / Wattpad Wednesdays: Reborn Chapter 16

IWSG was created by the Captain Ninja Alex J. Cavanaugh. To visit the other participants, click here.
We made it to 2015. I hope everyone had a good holiday and is ready to start the new year. As usual, I'm doing my annual goal post today. And for those new to IWSG, my name's Cherie Reich, and I write speculative fiction. I live in Virginia and am a bookworm and cat lover. I'm obsessed with collecting owls and watching TV. My first published novel is Reborn, a YA Epic Fantasy, and I also write novellas and short stories.

READING

24 Books. Yes, it's a much smaller goal than my usual 52, but I want to read some LONG books this year and figured I needed to give myself a reasonable goal to do so. I will likely read more than twenty-four books, though.

WRITING
  • Once upon a Nightmare: A Collection - I should have this second edition re-published in Spring 2015.
  • Fall of Gravity: A Collection - I'm hoping to publish the second edition of this collection by Summer 2015.
  • Marked - I'm currently writing this novella. My hope is to publish Marked (The Fate Challenges #1.5) before the end of this year/early 2016.
  • Forged - Once I finish Marked, then I'll be writing Forged (The Fate Challenges #2). I'm hoping to publish Forged next year.
  • Destined - I'm hoping to finish the first draft by the end this year and publish Destined (The Fate Challenges #3) in 2016/2017.
  • Paper Lanterns - This short story will be in the 2015 Untethered Realms' anthology Mayhem in the Air, which is coming out in the fall. It's already written but will go through more editing.
  • On Day 168 - A short story I hope to write this year for the 2016 UR anthology Ghosts of Fire. "On Day 168" is set within the world of Amora (the Great Beyond or Norvadia) and takes place around 1000 AUC, or 1500 years before Yssa in Reborn. The premise is what happens to the princess if the dragon defeats the knight.
BLOG

I'm planning to continue posting mainly once a week for the first four weeks of each month. Posts will go up on Wednesdays. First Wednesdays are IWSG. Second Wednesdays are now Bookworm News. For Third Wednesdays, I'm incorporating a new post called Falling for #SpecFic, and Fourth Wednesdays are my writing goals posts.

As you can see, I have quite a few projects I want to work on. And of course, any goal can be revised as the year goes on.

What are your 2015 goals?

And here are my 2014 stats: 47,738 Words Written and 3,129 Pages Edited.

Another chapter of Reborn is up on Wattpad. Read Chapter Sixteen here or start from the beginning here.

Your list of writing projects always amazes me. I would be so confused working on multiple projects.

Excellent list of projects. Take a deep breath and you can do it! My top goal this year: surviving all the promoting. Yikes!

I'm like Alex, I'm always amazed by your list of projects and how much you manage to accomplish. Here's to another productive and successful year. :)

Great list of projects! You always inspire me to reach further and work harder for my dreams. I have a big list of writing goals and publishing goals that can be summed up like this: one new story a month subbed for publication and one new "publication" a month (these might all end up being e-story repubs, but I'm going for it, anyway).
Best wishes for life and writing in 2015!

Hi Cherie, your writing projects always amaze me. You must share your time management skills and writing schedule with us and tell us how you manage to write so much.

Four stories or books this year? You've already outlined your process, so I'm sure you will get it done.

kudos, that's a long writing list, best of luck with it and happy new year! :-)

You have so much writing planned. Good for you. Way to go! Best of luck with it all. Looking forward to your Wednesday posts.

Wow, I'm impressed with all the writing you have planned. And I love your reading goal of reading longer books. That's something I'd like to do too. I tend to read a lot of kidlit, because that's what I write, but I want to branch into other stuff as well.
Happy New Year!

Holy Bejesus that's a lot of writing! I can only work one one project at a time, sometimes they overlap during a slow period, like when my WIP is with an editor and I'm waiting for feedback. But even then, that's two projects at a time. More than that and I think I'd be interchanging characters and scenes.

Good luck on fulfilling your goals!

Your remind me I need to get chapters up on Wattpad. Your goals are inspiring. I can't wait to read Paper Lanterns. It sounds amazing.

Hi, Cherie,

WOW... very impressive. All the best in 2015. I know you'll do it!

Cherie, Happy New year to you and yours! 24 books is a lot. I'm shooting for one a week, but like you I tend to pick long books. So I'll be happy with one every two weeks.

Sarah Foster said...

Wow, that is an impressive list of projects! I wish I could have that many ideas. Good luck with all of your goals!

You're so ambitious. Go, you! I'm impressed. I'm not a fast writer. Or rather, I'm not a fast editor. I can crank out the very first draft (essentially my very long outline) but I'm not that fast with what comes next. The story need time to percolate and I don't what's cooking until I get that first draft done.

Here't to reaching those goals and crossing the finish line standing!

You are one productive lady. (there, there Ego. Maybe when you grow up you might be like Cherie) *sigh*

Like Alex, I'm always amazed with your writing projects and how you achieve your goals. The # of books I've read lately is down too. I'm watching more TV at night.

My goals fall under keep writing, keep editing and keep blogging. Simple, but they get me through. :-)

I'm keeping my 2015 goals simple: finish the four shelved stories (novella's and short stories) already half-written. Everything else is just a kick in the procrastination butt :)

Fantastic goal list! Seriously, I'm amazed and heartened. I thought I was the only person out there with crazy-long goal lists! I've pared my down this year -a much needed focus- but it's still a lot!

Best of luck to you and Happy New Year!

I love the title "Paper Lanterns." Good luck on everything. You always do amazing things on the reading and writing fronts.

Nice goals! Mine is pretty much to get published or set a pub date this year, whether that is via agent, indie pub or self pub. This is the year!

You writing schedule is packed--very impressive!

Cathy Keaton said...

Well, it's mostly writing smaller works, so you should be able to accomplish writing them this year. It's those novels that are hard! Good luck with your goals this year, as usual. :)

My goal is to just write a little every day and hopefully have around 100,000 words written by the end of the year, or more, if possible. I want to be able to complete a novel this year, but I have the worst track record for being able to do that. Guess I'll just have to see how that goes. I can still write a lot, though!

Wow, that's a lot!!! All those writing goals look great--and put mine a bit to shame, ha--and you planned everything out so well. Hope you have a great 2015!

Great list of goals! I'll be cheering you on! I try to post at least once a week as well. I just have a hard time finding enough hours in the day to do more. Happy reading, writing, and blogging.

Wishing you a very happy 2015. You have given a lot of thoughts to your goals and the 24 books sounds realistic based on the length of the books you are hoping to read. Best of luck with all of your writing. Wow! You also did a great job on 2014- I am always inspired when I visit. :)

You have a lot of exciting projects ahead of you. That Wattpad thing is popping up everywhere, but I haven't yet been on there. I guess I'm a little behind :)

You are always so organized! Blogging once a week makes good sense.

The last two years my Goodreads reading goal has been 50 books. Two years ago I got 62 books read and this year I got 83, so I set my 2015 goals at 75. *crosses fingers*
