Wednesday's Writing Update: Change in Plans

Happy Wednesday!

I thought I would briefly mention June's word count totals (7807 words) and pages edited totals (229).

Last week's IWSG post on re-evaluating goals has me continuing to re-evaluate mine. I've been trying to block in writing and editing into my day. Some days it works. Others Most, not so much. So if I don't respond to things as quickly, it is because I'm writing/editing. The fact is that I'm tired. My work schedule changes in the summer to earlier hours, so I've figured that I get 8+ hours less sleep a week during the summer. That really adds up! (136+ hours less sleep a week, or 5.7 days!) So I've decided to take a little more time to write Pull of Gravity, Nightmare Ever After, and Twelve Days of Foxwick. They'll still get done this year, and I'm hoping it's just a few weeks difference, but I think the slower pace will be best.

I've also decided to keep the Monday, Wednesday, and Friday blogging schedule through the end of the year instead of just the summer. Of course, it's scheduled to change, but that'll be the general schedule.

I've also changed my mind on my NaNoWriMo novel. I would love to write Paranormal Junkies, but I have four novels already written. I plan to revise/edit Starred August-December (hope to finish it by the end of October). That'll leave The Phoenix Prophetess, Virtuoso, and The Cassandra Project to rewrite/edit. Yes, those three need major rewrites. So for my NaNoWriMo novel, I've decided to re-write The Phoenix Prophetess. On Sunday, I finally figured out how resolve Part I's issues. It'll involve changes in Part II and III as well as elevating a minor character to have a more major role (i.e. Yssa needs a friend that isn't a boy). I'm also changing it from third person to first person point of view. By using NaNo to rewrite, then I'll have a better draft to edit come January 2013. Plus, my sister keeps begging me to get The Phoenix Prophetess out there. She insists it is the one and needs the book to come out, so they can start filming the movie. LOL!

So I'm off to keep working on Pull of Gravity right now. If all goes well, I should have the first draft completed by Friday. *crosses fingers*

What are you up to this Wednesday?

It never fails to amaze me how many decisions and re-evaluations writers have to do! Good luck with everything!

right now I'm taking a break and letting my manuscript sit. Then I'll be jumping on the revision wagon until I've got something shiny and worthy of sending out into the world. Or at least, that's the plan :)

Good luck with yours!

I've been really focused on achieving my writing goals over the last week, and it's brought a burst of energy into the rest of my life (despite the lack of sleep).

That's a good idea to use NaNo to rewrite. Yssa's story is fabulous. I could totally see it as a film! My fingers are crossed for you. Maybe I'll actually get a chance to work on the edits for Fearless today. Yesterday I napped. The heat and the toddler drain me and I conk out in the middle of the day. Still no word on our air-conditioning unit. I'm getting worried that we might not have it this week.

You have a lot on your plate! I need to get you a bumper sticker that says, 'I'd rather be sleeping!'

Yes, definitely do get some more sleep! It's a great idea to use NaNo for rewrite. I never thought about that. I'm vegging out, having just given my MS to beta readers. But it'll be in your lap soon.

Good luck on your goal! I wouldn't sweat it if you miss a deadline though, you have a lot of balls in the air! :)

Good luck with your goal! Make sure you get plenty of rest so you don't make yourself sick.

I'm stunned you can be working on so many books at once. When I write, I'm like a terrier with a bone locked between its jaws. I can't do anything else because I'm completely focused.
I wish you much luck on any and all WIPs you're working on -- and I hope you find time to get some sleep, too. :-)

I'm catching up on blogging so that I can possibly take a blogging break and read. And possibly write too.

I'm sure your slow time will pay off.

Yes, do catch up on the sleep. It's amazing what a few zzz's can accomplish. Good Luck!

I have to constantly revise my goals. Sometimes things get moved around and with editing so much, I only have so much time for myself.

One year for Nano I rewrote a story. I definitely think that's a good idea for you. I know the feeling of having too many written novels that need to be perfected.

Good luck with your goals! I'm always redefining mine as well. I think it's part of the process.

I'm still reading Starred! This give more time to finish it, which is good because I'm such a slow reader.

Can't wait for the cover reveal!!! Woohoo!!!

Goals are good as long as they're flexible... then you're not failing, you're just adapting to circumstance.

You've got a lot of stuff going on. Hope you finish that draft on Friday. Finishing anything feels awesome!

Good luck with your writing goals! Sorry to hear about all the sleep you'll lose; that sounds exhausting.

Yep, I'm planning on using NaNo to revise (well, rewrite) a novel, too.

Good luck! Losing out on a sleep is such a bummer. Hang in there!

Yep, I too was going to write a new novel for NaNo but decided to focus on editing instead. That's what I'm doing right now. It feels so slow though.
