Javen's Joy #atozchallenge

For the A to Z Challenge, I'm having twenty-six flash fiction pieces from my Foxwick Kingdom and its surrounding neighbors. Soon A to Z Flashes of Foxwick will be available in e-book format. You can add this to your Goodreads list here.

Javen’s Joy

Prince Javen reined his horse when he heard the sweet lute’s plucked strings. With ease, he dismounted and pressed his hand against the horse’s muzzle. “Quiet, let’s see who we have here.”
He crept toward the tall bushes that bordered his father’s palace. The sharp leaves stung his palms, but he ignored the pain to glimpse the musician so close to the castle. Finally, a shimmer of white-blond hair greeted him. What did she look like?
She perched upon a boulder and delicate fingers strummed over the lute’s body and fingered the notes. Then, she sang a nonsensical tune with no real words. Her voice was unlike anything Javen had heard before. It was like a siren’s calling, and she ensnared him in her trap.
Please, turn and look.
He didn’t dare disturb her, but his horse had other ideas. When it whinnied, she froze.
The music was forgotten along with his heart. She hopped from the boulder and gave him a fleeting glance of blue eyes and fair skin before she vanished into the thickets. He didn’t even get a chance to call out to her, but he would never forget the joy of her music, her voice, her.

Good Luck with Flashes of Foxwick. The A to Z Challenge is a great way to promote your book.

Another shiver inducing ending. I know I keep saying this (and I hope it doesn't sound condescending or anything) but you're doing a great job with these pieces. I'm impressed.

Aw, how beautifully romantic! I hope he finds her again one day and they fall in love (after she stops running away from him) and they live happily ever after :-)

Fun excerpt. Makes me wonder who/what she is.

I love your writing. My only criticism? They're too short! I always want to know more!

I love how much we get of the girl in this! So evocative!

Huh...who is this mysterious, seductive woman?

Oh, and you went to Missouri State? Cool. I was just there last week (Springfield) visiting clients.

Hope they meet again in better circumstances and sparks fly. Enjoy your setting and tale weaving.

It's literally a flash of a moment. Amazing how such a brief moment can affect a person.
