Kona's Knowledge #atozchallenge

For the A to Z Challenge, I'm having twenty-six flash fiction pieces from my Foxwick Kingdom and its surrounding neighbors. Soon A to Z Flashes of Foxwick will be available in e-book format. You can add this to your Goodreads list here.

Kona’s Knowledge

Kona flew along the icy winds toward Wintermill. If she didn’t hurry, she would be late for her meeting with Harthro. Did she dare trust the dragon seer or had Eirwyn dug her nails into him already? Snow bit into her wings as she dodged the thicker clouds. The scenery below her changed from ice and rocks to stunted trees. In the distance, the lake and Queen Eirwyn’s castle loomed before her.
As soon as the tree line ended, she plummeted toward the earth and landed at the edge of the iced-over lake.
“You’re late.” Harthro emerged from the forest’s shadows.
Sorry, it wasn’t easy to get away.
“Did you find another seer?”
Yes, a young woman in Foxwick. She’s with a dragon named Attor. I know she’ll help us. Kona flapped her blue wings to keep them from freezing.
He rubbed his gloved hand over his beard. “You’re sure she’s the one?”
Positive.
“Thank you, Kona. You might’ve saved my life with this one.” He bowed toward her.
The dragon mind-giggled. Save your bows for my sister. I’m glad to help.
“Where exactly will I find her in Foxwick?”
Kona allowed the mind-image to form fully and sent it to Harthro. She showed him a cabin near Greymist Forest. Sheep dotted the fields, but the cabin was all alone and a ways from its neighbors. I must go now.
“This will all be over soon, won’t it?” He patted her side.
I hope so. Kona took off in flight and hoped she’d made the right decision to trust Harthro with her knowledge.
