The Spark Blogfest and Favorite Reads Blogfest

Christine Tyler at The Writer Coaster has created this awesome blogfest involving writers and inspiration.

Plus, question number three works for another blogfest: Favorite Reads Blogfest. I created this blogfest + giveaway over at my book reviews blog, Surrounded by Books Reviews.

Today's question is: Is there a book or author that changed your world view?

The book that changed my world view was Beth Revis’s Across the Universe. I don’t think I’ll ever look at stars the same way. I devoured her novel in one day.

I’ve also cried over Beth’s story on how Across the Universe may be her debut novel, but it wasn’t the first, second, third, or even fourth written novel (I think it was number eleven). Beth’s journey is about perseverance, never giving up.

So far, Across the Universe by Beth Revis is my favorite novel of the year. It inspired me as a reader and as a writer.

Beth Revis's story is inspirational. A lot of people throw that word around, but hers truly is. She wrote over 10 manuscripts, had a critique partner tell her she wasn't a good writer, and received many rejections before becoming a NYT Bestseller with her debut novel. Her advance was enough she could quit her job.

I'm deluding myself that my story will be like hers, but it means I shouldn't give up.

I like the idea of this blogfest. Maybe I'll join.

Which book?....

Oooh, what a fun blogfest! I do love the story of Beth's writing journey. If it's not inspirational, I don't know what is!

And I love the new blog look, by the way! :)

It was a fantastic book. So original! I had no idea she had written other books until she had gotten that one published. It's true: it's about perseverance. We've just got to keep trying! :)

I loved Beth Revis' Across the Universe. I can't wait to read the 2nd one. I also follow her blog.

I like the idea of the Favorite Summer Reads Blogfest...but I've read so many I can't pick the best one :)

Oh, wow, eleven novels??? Now that is some major perseverance right there. Wow, I may just have to pick this book up; maybe some of Beth's stubbornness will rub off on me!
