Surrounded by Books Reviews is hosting a Favorite Summer Reads Blogfest. Tell us what your favorite summer reads are. Plus, there is a chance for prizes. Today is the last day of the blogfest. On Wednesday, I talked about my favorite book this year (Beth Revis's Across the Universe), on Thursday, I talked about my favorite books this summer (Jennifer Hillier's Creep, Aubrie Dionne's Paradise 21, and Cas Peace's King's Envoy), and today I'm talking about my favorite reads of summers past.
I used to read a lot during the summer. I remember spending long summer days and nights curled up on the couch reading. I loved reading The Cat Who series by Lillian Jackson Braun. I read Sweet Valley High and Nancy Drew.
Then, there was JK Rowling's Harry Potter series. I read those books several summers since 2001 and stood in line at midnight to get my free copy (yes, I won free copies. No one could beat my knowledge of the books. Muahaha!).
Now I don't get quite as much time to read in the summer since I have work, but I still miss and long for those quiet days with a good book.

Hello, Cherie! When I was in high school and college I read the Harry Potter's every summer. Now I re-read them around Christmas time.
I love re-reading my favorite books! The Anne of Green Gables series and Little House books are just a few that I re-read every couple years. Good thing I'm a fast reader so I can make time to re-read favorites and read new ones!
Impressive selection. I read all the time at bedtime so I'm not sure which ones were specifically summer ones. I'm not a lying on the beach reading kinda person.I loved Harry Potter, but haven't read any of those others you mentioned. :O)
Just posted mine ;O)
I just posted mine!
Sweet Valley High and Nancy Drew... I devoured those books! And before that, The Babysitter's Club.
After seeing everyone's posts, I have an urge to read the HP books again! *LOL*
Good old Nancy Drew! I read so many of those books. LOL.
I have to re-read Harry Potter sometime. I'm thinking about doing it before the DVD of Part 2 comes out . . .
Hi Cherie. I've not been doing blogfests as no time except for my Friday RFWer 'fest. And it'd be Winter Reads over here, ha ha...
Denise
Oh, Sweet Valley High! That brings back memories. I used to go through that series, and still have "Malibu Summer" - loved that story.
