Writing Update: March Goals

Happy Wednesday!

Although I have been productive this month, I haven't gotten too far in most of my goals. This month was spent working on other people's work from proofreading and formatting in print/ebook formats a friend's novel to formatting and designing a cover for a friend's poetry print book. I'm also currently editing another friend's novel. I love having the opportunity to help out friends, even if it means my own work falls to the wayside.

What I did accomplish was my self-edit of "Paper Lanterns," and I should finish my content edit of Once upon a Nightmare: A Collection by the end of the month.

Here are my March goals:
  • Once upon a Nightmare: A Collection - I have line edits (I start on the last page and work my way to page one so I can focus on each line without getting caught up in the story), a Kindle proofread, and formatting the print book.
  • "On Day 168" - I would like to finish writing this short story in March.
I will finish up my edits on a friend's novel in March as well. I'm taking a break from Marked because I want to publish Once upon a Nightmare: A Collection in April and need my main focus to be on it.

What are your March goals?

2015 Stats (1/1/2015-2/24/2015): 10,541 words written and 217 pages edited

Sometimes it's more about others than us. As long as it doesn't become all about others, right?

You've got me intrigued with the title of that short story. What happened on Day 168?? Great title.

To have a baby. =) I think that's a pretty good goal for the month. I sometimes get caught up in the editing and helping loop too, but it's a good place to be if you ask me. While editing you are still growing as a writer/author, even if you aren't making as much progress as you'd like. Your brain is still in the zone.

Best of luck with your upcoming goals!

And you did a fantastic job on my novel! :) I hope your eyes hold up to meet your goals. My goals are to finish all my touring, get OBaS everywhere I can, and start a new story. Yes!

I'm also intrigued by the story's title!

My goal is to finally finish my massive WIP, which finally only has a few chapters plus the Epilogue left.

Good luck on your goals. I have plans for a book release at the end of March. I should be getting edits back from my editor in the next few days, so I can do that then format. Holy crap, seeing all that is making me scared. Eep!

Good luck with all your goals! I've read about the technique of doing line editing backwards but never tried it. I can see how it would be helpful.

I've never tried to edit backwards before. How do you keep from getting confused? If it works for you, then more power to ya! Congrats on gaining some ground on your goals.

Cool that you're helping others. It's nice that you have the skill to do so. They are lucky people to have your help.

Best of luck with your edits and writing!

Yay to goals. I spend so much time writing to my clients, I need to work in time to work on my own stuff. Your post reminded me of that!

Best of luck with your March goals. I have a lot of writing on my goals list for March. I need to start working on my book! I left off when it got so cold and need to get back to it. :)

You are a stinking genius! I used to line edit by printing the story out and scattering the pages. Then I got tired of printing so many pages, but have always missed the separation from the story edit. Going from back to front makes so much sense! Thank you! So glad I stopped by!

You have been busy!! Even though you didn't acheive all on your to do list, you have still accomplished so much. Congrats!! Wishing you a fun filled March, Cherie.

I got overwhelmed this last month with teaching, trying to write, traveling for a family event. Going forward I am determined to finish a draft of my WIP! Plus I need to finish three short stories. At least I am back to blogging again. I am impressed with your organizational skills and determination.

You still got a lot done, Cherie! You do awesome with your goals. My WiP is slow going, still pretty much in the planning stages and I still need to edit my short for the anthology. Lots of time left, though.

Wait, you do formatting for print books? Or are you just formatting your own books?

Best of luck this month!
