First off, I'm at Nicole Zoltack's blog today talking about the fantasy creatures from Defying Gravity.
Most writers are readers first. I know books featured a major role in my becoming a writer.
As a young child, my favorite book was Danny and the Dinosaur by Syd Hoff. I loved that book, still do. What is better than museums and dinosaurs? Hm, maybe that is why I'm such a big Jurassic Park fan. Perhaps.

One of the first books I can remember rereading a bazillion times was called Tiffany the Walking Disaster. Several of my stories I wrote around that time had the main character named Tiffany. lol
Where the Wild Things Are! I wanted to BE Max.
I was pretty obsessed with The Tap Dancing Man. The story is great, but the illustration is really beautiful!

Any of the Famous Five books would be my favourite childhood books!
I remember when I was really young, The Poky Little Puppy was my favorite. I also adored Dr. Seuss.
I never heard of Danny and the Dinosaur until I had kids, but my son loved this book!
Oh man, how much do I love kids books? When I was a kid my mom made it a point to write down every title that was even mentioned on Reading Rainbow and then we'd go to the library and search for them all -- it was like a treasure hunt! Our local library even had authors like Steven Kellog come and talk to kids - it was like seeing a rock star!
I don't know why exactly, but one of my favorites has to be The Day Jimmy's Boa ate the wash. It's so ridiculous and the little narrator is so matter of fact describing the school field trip that it still cracks me up!
We had a bunch of the Dr. Seuss Beginner Books that my mom would read to us in the afternoon. My favorite one was The King, the Mice, and the Cheese by Nancy and Eric Gurney. I also liked the Berenstain Bears.

That dinosaur is adorable! I loved the Munsch books, especially the Paperbag Princess.
