Z is for Zeus

I couldn’t go through A to Z Blogging Challenge without mentioning someone from my Classics background. Of course, if you’re going to mention someone, you might as well start off with the King of the Gods, Zeus.

Zeus was the king of the gods, the god of sky and weather, law, order and fate. He was depicted as a kingly man, mature with sturdy figure and dark beard.

His attributes: lightning bolt, royal scepter, and eagle.

He was the father to many other gods and mortals alike.

My favorite daughter of his is Athena.

His favorite son was Herakles (Hercules).

He is probably best remembered for his extramarital affairs.

His Roman name was Jupiter or Jove.

I'd like to thank everyone who created and participated in the A-Z Challenge. I look forward to next year's challenge. I've met some great new friends and have many more to get to know better in the coming months.

I'd also like to thank Rachael Harrie for hosting the Second Writers Platform Building Crusade which ends today as well. She's hosting another one come August, so be on the look out for it.

Zeus is a perfect Z word. I haven't read mythology for years, but how can I ever forget Zeus?!

Great last post for the challenge! I think I wrote a story about Zeus back in 6th grade :)

That's an awesome 'z' word! I love mythology and history. Been watching a series of shows that I DVRed from the history channel about the history of the seven deadly sins. It's fascinating.
