Rejection

Well, I got my first rejection today of September. Pill Hill Press rejected "Government Project 103-1-10" for their Monster Mash anthology. I was a bit worried that they might because the story probably wasn't scary enough for what they were looking for. They were kind enough to mention that Living Dead Press is doing a similar anthology. Unfortunately, my story is 2300 words, and they were looking for stories 3500-10,000 words. Although I could extend the story perhaps, I don't want to. Frankly, I like it as is.

So what are my plans for "Government Project 103-1-10?" If Raven and the Writing Desk's theme for October is horror/monsters/Halloween, then you'll be able to read it for free in October. We haven't decided upon the theme yet, but I would love to put it up there as a free read. I enjoyed writing the story. Plus, it would give me one less thing to write in October. *winks*

I also received a couple blog awards, but more on that in the next post. *grins*

Aww, I'm sorry to hear this. Maybe it'll fit in elsewhere.

Still haven't heard back on my story yet, but you already know I have a bad feeling about this one. I'm sure your story will have a home soon enough! :)

Well, I still hope you have better luck, Nicole!

That's a great theme for October! Although you'll have to help me make my story scary! :) You're the master of that!

Too bad for Pill Hill. I bet they passed up a good one!

Yep, just opened the rejection email. This one doesn't sting since I expected it. Now I can polish it and send it elsewhere.

Aubrie - You know I'll help you with a scary story!

Nicole - That's too bad. At least you are in good company. :) Good luck sending it elsewhere.
