You can help a library today.

I used to work at public library as a library page. This part-time work helped me obtain my full-time library assistant position. I tried keeping both jobs, working full-time at the one and one Saturday a month at the other, but between full-time work, a bad lower back, and writing, I had to give up working as a library page in October 2009.

Today, though, I would like to take a moment to tell everyone about a grant my library is trying to obtain. They are in the running to receive a $25,000 grant for their Summer Reading Program. If you live in an area where the library has a summer reading program, then you would know how important it is for kids. For one, it gets kids reading at a time when they typically don't. For two, if you read enough, you get the most awesome prizes!

On top of reading and prizes, the library puts on shows for the kids ranging from movie afternoons to magic to zoo animals in the library! I participated in such events, and my sister still participates in the from time to time.

They were some of the best times of my life during the summer reading program at the library, but this year, it looks like they won't have a program because of lack of funding.

So, if you would, please go to http://www.refresheverything.com/rcpl and vote for the library to win the grant. The top ten ideas win and right now, the library is at 145. It's moved up a lot since I voted this morning. Voting ends on June 30th, so please, please vote. It only take a couple of moments. Please also repost this or put it up somewhere, so others can find out and vote.

Thank you!

I can't vote because I don't have a facebook account :( But I hope everyone else does. What a great idea!

You don't have to have a facebook account to vote. You can sign in directly with Pepsi. That's what I did because the facebook account link didn't work for me.
