Friendship, Food, Bowling, and Mario Brothers

You may be wondering what these four things have in common, but it's all what I did on Saturday afternoon (3:30 PM) to late night (around 11:30 PM) with my very best friend of twenty years. Although we've been best friends for so long and live close (within 20 miles of each other), we don't often get to hang out. With our schedules and general real life, these things don't work out all the time, so it was exciting to be able to hang out with her.

We talked for a couple hours before heading bowling where we played four games. I won two, and she won two. My thumb still hurts from it. *laughs* Then, we went out to eat at Fazoli's and sat around there and talked until after 8:30. Then, it was back to her place for some Super Mario Brothers 3. Unfortunately, we didn't have the handy-dandy game Genii to cheat, but it was a load of fun. Super Mario Brothers 3 was our thing we did all the time when growing up, and there's nothing like sitting there yelping when you die or saying, "Oh, crap," over and over again when the giant fish eats you with your best friend sitting beside you.

My friend and I haven't been able to spend some time together in a few years, so it was the best. Everyone deserves a friend that, whether or not you haven't spoken in days, weeks, months, or years, you can get together and instantly pick up the conversations and have a natural flow to things. She's one friend that I feel like I could tell anything to and not worry about what she might think of me.

So, I wanted to spend this post talking about that sort of friendship. I feel lucky to have a friend like that. And, I feel lucky having the other friends I have.

So, thank you to my bestest friend and all my other friends out there for being my friend.

Great post! I have a friend like that. She moved down to North Carolina back in the middle of second grade, but we still talk on the phone sometimes and email. We keep in touch, and whenever we visit it each other, it's as if we've always been together, that the miles never separated us. You're so right, everyone needs a friend like that.

What a beautiful post! It makes me miss my best friends, and most of all my sister (and best friend) who is halfway across the country from me! We used to play Mario Cart as a family, too!

My best friend lives in London so our time together in person is rare. The distance doesn't break the bond nor does the time apart.

Beautiful post!
