R is for Roc Express, the Only Way to Fly

This year's A to Z Challenge theme is: All About Foxwick.

R is for ... Roc Express, the Only Way to Fly

The first time I came across rocs was by playing Age of Mythology. Rocs are large birds that can be hooked up to large baskets and transfer people across the land. Think of them as ancient airplanes.

In Foxwick, I wanted a better way to get around rather than the typical horses, carriages, and walking. Thus, I use rocs for people to travel quickly across the land. Most of those people don’t seem to trust the rocs that much. Large birds are a bit creepy, but it’s the only way to fly.

You'll find rocs in D&D as well.

I could be considered a large, creepy bird. I think I might find a kindred spirit in those rocs :)

A Roc that can fly, I'm all for that. I collect rocks, yeah, the garden variety, 10 lbs or more kind.I decorate the inside and outside of my house with them. Cally me quirky -- I love rocks, and now maybe even Rocs

That sounds cool and not the typical thing most people use. Although I have only been able to make myself fly once and I was 11... I might skip the Roc flight, lol.

A bird with a basket? Sounds like a bumpy air balloon ride!

It sounds fun, but I better bring a barf bag since I have trouble on roller coasters.

I think I'd enjoy roc flying.

Large birds are more than a bit creepy! I've been around emus, and they're mean birds.

I'm not sure I'd trust them that much either! But it's a clever way to have your characters travel quickly :)

I love the idea of using rocs to carry passengers like planes. That would make a fantastic cover pic, right?
Great post! :-)

This is the first time I'm hearing about rocs. What a cool creature! No wonder you wanted to use them for Foxwick. :)
