Wednesday's Writing Update

It's Wednesday, so it's time again for Wednesday's Writing Update. And, yes, it's a rare two post day. I'm also participating in Nicole Ducleroir's Bernard Pivot Blogfest. You can read that post here.

I also wanted to welcome all new followers and people stopping by. I'd like to follow all of you, so if I haven't followed you, let me know and perhaps leave your blog link too. Some I am having a hard time finding, and it'll make it easier. I wanted to extend a special hello to fellow crusaders.

Today I have a guest post at the Oil and Water - And Other Things That Don't Mix blog. I'm talking about my short story "Tradition" in the anthology with the same name. You can read the post here. If you feel so inclined, please comment and follow.

I reviewed N.R. Williams' The Treasures of Carmelidrium. It's an epic fantasy novel. You can read the review here.

On Monday, I put up a special anti-Valentine's Day short story on Raven and the Writing Desk. You can read "Eat Your Heart Out" here. And, I'm not completely against love. Here is a lighter flash fiction piece from Friday titled "Blind Date." You can read it here.

Yesterday, I submitted "Cassandra Project" to Pill Hill Press's Told You So anthology.

My writing has really gone downhill the past couple days. I have a short story I need to finish before next week, but it might not happen. I'm already chapters behind in my Virtuoso rewrites. I wanted to have Defying Gravity rewritten by the end of this month. I have critiques for friends I'd like to get done, but I might have to hold off on all of it at least for a bit. Why, you might ask. I need to finish my proofreading project for PWP.

I love my proofreading/editing job with PWP. I've learned so much about editing/proofreading there it's amazing. I've read some great novels, too, including the 622-page novel I'm working on now, so please don't think I'm complaining. The senior editor wants me to finish the 622-page novel a week earlier than I had planned. This is fine, but it means I'll have to hold off on my own writing. Actually, her reasoning makes me smile on why she wants it done sooner than planned. She is partial to my style and wants to me critique a certain manuscript. So, this means I have to push back all the other things I wanted to do and speed up on my proofreading, so I can send it back to her and begin the new project. As I said, it's a good thing, but it throws a wrench in my well-laid plans. Oh, well.

So, now I'm off to edit 50 pages before I leave work. If I get that done, I might be able to....

SO sorry you must READ for a living (wink, wink) - sounds fun. Glad you're in our crusade group! Until then, peace out.

That's a lot to accomplish. Better get going lol.

That must be so hard to put off your own writing to edit. Good luck with your stuff. =)

Nindogs - Hi, fellow crusader! Thank you for stopping by! Yeah, I like my work, all three jobs of them (including writing in that).

Beth - *laughs* I wish I could just read for a living. The proofreading/editing thing is more part-time. I work full-time as a library assistant. Then, whatever time is left after all that, I write, critique friends' works, and do whatever else I need to do. I love it, though, although it keeps me busy and sometimes I feel like my head will spin from it all.

Summer - Hi, fellow crusader! Good luck with all your work, too, even if it isn't all writing-related. Mine isn't completely. There is the full-time library job, but I heart my library job too.

Elizabeth - It's nice to meet another crusader. I spent most of Saturday and Sunday proofreading over 200 pages, and I finally finished with it. Thanks for dropping by! I'll be catching up with the other crusaders tomorrow when I'm not on dial-up.
