#IWSG: One Day at a Time / Wattpad Wednesdays: Reborn Chapter Six

It's time for another Insecure Writer's Support Group meeting. IWSG was created by the awesome ninja captain Alex J. Cavanaugh, and you can find out the other members of the group here.

You know what they say about those best-laid plans...

Yeah, my August goals have pretty much been put on hold to some extent. I'm probably three weeks behind now because I got sick almost two weeks ago and am still not 100% better. Life's funny like that.

So my advice today is to take one day at a time. Each word, each sentence edited, means one step closer to "The End." As long as we keep working, the work will be finished, even if it takes longer than we'd hoped.

[And I apologize in advance for being slow to commenting back. I'm on vacation until Monday from the day job, and the Internet at home isn't the best.]

As it is the first Wednesday of the month, it's time for another chapter of Reborn to be up on Wattpad. You can start from the beginning here or click here to read Chapter Six.

Illness can destroy many a plans. I hope you're back to 100% soon and don't push yourself too hard. It's not worth it in the long run.

Your promo banners and covers are always so pretty. Love the one for your Wattpad ad!

I suppose that's the thing. Work doesn't un-write itself, so anything you do is something.

I've tried planning and setting goals, but I find the disappointment in not meeting them is sometimes crippling. Instead, I just need to take it as it goes, and be thankful for every word that gets written.

Excellent advice--little by little you reach The End.

Feel better soon! I hope you're enjoying your vacation.

Just reset your goals and keep moving forward. It will be all right.
Sorry you've been so sick.

Hope you feel 100% soon. Sometimes it's best to take a break and rest so you feel better. The goals will still be there and you know you're productive.

A lot of people have had to put their goals on hold recently, too because of the summer and other responsibilities. I am one of them, but I am hoping to get more writing done this month. Taking it one day at a time is always good. :)

Getting sick can indeed throw the best laid plans off kilter. Taking one day at a time is the best way to go.

Illness definitely has a way of throwing a wrench in our plans. Take care and feel better, Cherie. *hugs*

I hope you're feeling better today and get some rest over the 4 day weekend.

Hope your vacation restores your good health. Terrible to be sick in the summer and during your vacation, too.

I'm trying to catch up with the blogs I enjoy, but my computer is set to crash land at any moment, so I'm very slow.

I try to take my writing one step at a time as well (and not just because that's something my narrator says...). I try to look at each little detail I finish editing as being one step closer to being done.

Sorry to hear you've been sick. You're right though, just gotta keep moving forward no matter how slow. Not easy to remember every time so thanks!

What excellent advice! Life often throws us curve balls and every step forward is moving in the right direction. :) Hope you feel better soon!

I know what you mean! I had some health related setback this last month. That's life, eh? You just have to face it and move forward.

I'm trying to take it one day at a time, but sometimes it seems the end of my book is so far away, I'll never get there.

Glad to hear you're feeling better.

We must have caught our cold from the same evil germ-sharer. Who visits both our blogs! I jest, I jest. Colds make me loopy too.

Looks like you and I are on the same boat, Cherie. I've been sick for almost a week now and my condition has just started to finally improve but I don't want to jinx myself!. I am leaving for Cozumel this Saturday for vacation.
You are absolutely right about taking things one day at a time. We are not perfect, by no means. But as long as we are doing the work, even if it's a little here and there, then we are closer to the goal. But we shouldn't kill ourselves, especially when we just don't have the time.
I have "Reborn" in my Kindle as I've already added it to my TBR list=)

You can only do what you can do in a given day. Even delays can work to our advantage--particularly if they allow you to recuperate and feel better. Which I hope you do soon! :)

Getting sick always derails me too. I don't want to do anything and will someone please baby me! LOL Good to hear you are feeling better, and I bet you'll get back on track before long. You amaze me with how organized you are with your goals.

Sorry to hear you were sick, Cherie. Hope you are recovered now.
Funny how living life keeps getting in the way of writing about it. My computer burned out and I had to go through the paces of setting up a new one. Turns out, it was the best thing that could have happened.
Best of Success with your latest WIP.
Aloha.

Life is like that. But your advice is excellent. Some days it takes a lot out of me to just remember to breath. Hope you're feeling better soon!

Sorry your goals got put on hold because of being sick! Life is mean like that sometimes, unfortunately. Hope you feel 100% better soon!

You sound like me! I get sick so often, it's always getting in the way of my writing goals. I haven't been sick much lately, to my surprise, but I've been a terrible insomniac. Ugh. I just try to write, anyway, as you say. Each written word gets you one step closer to "goal accomplished."

Cher Green said...

Sorry to hear you've been sick. Hope you get well soon. The writing can wait. Your health is much more important. And, with the progress you've been making, it's probably just the universe demanding you take a few days off.:)

Unknown said...

I'm sorry to hear you've been ill. It does slow us down. But I agree with you. We have to take each day as it comes and each action taken on a manuscript at whatever point is a positive. I hope you're feeling better.

Bob Sanchez said...

One word at a time, Cherie. You'll get it done.

Patsy said...

Better to make slow progress than give up because you're behind and make none at all.

Anonymous said...

Sometimes I'm behind as well. I remind myself of how much I already accomplished and if it's a little bit at a time, things will still get done.

Enjoy a long weekend.

Unknown said...

Feel better soon Cherie. Sometimes unexpected breaks in writing make room for big bursts of creativity when we finally back to it =-)

Hope you get well soon.

Birgit said...

I hope you are feeling better and you are right. You will get it done and that is the main thing.

Heather Musk said...

Taking things one day at a time is such a simple concept, but so easy to forget.
I'm finally on Wattpad and look forward to catching up with Reborn.

"Each word, each sentence edited, means one step closer to "The End." -- All writers need to hear that from time to time. It's definitely what I needed to hear right now.

Anonymous said...

Life is funny like that. I sprained my foot last month, so I was forced to finish my edits when I would have rather hit the beach. Stinkin' life! Get better soon, Cherie. Soon you'll be putting us all to shame again. =]

Carol Kilgore said...

Hope you're feeling better. Being sick is no fun. Take care of yourself.

Jack said...

That is encouraging. I've not been able to write as much as usual and I've felt discouraged over it, but as long as we keep going, the book gets finished. Thanks for the reminder!

Gwen Gardner said...

You're so right about goals. As long as you're doing something, even if it's only a little, you're still moving forward. Glad you're feeling better, Cherie.

Hope you're feeling better soon. I got sick on vacation in July and felt like crap for two weeks. Summer is a terrible time to be sick.
