Writing Update: April Goals

Happy Wednesday!

ARCs of Reborn are with reviewers, and I'm gearing up for a couple more proofreads of Reborn before it's published in May. I've also been working a little bit on Reforged, Book Two of The Fate Challenges, and Remarked, The Fate Challenges #1.5 novella.

Here are my April goals:
  • Proofread Reborn. I should have my print proof in a few weeks, so I can start reading it. It's amazing how much more you catch when you read your work in a different format. While I'm waiting, I'm planning to format Reborn for my Kindle again and do another read-through on it (perhaps even a text-to-voice read). I hope to have all proofreads and changes finished by the end of April or early May, so I can publish Reborn with plenty of time to get purchase links and the like to the wonderful bloggers helping me with my blog tour (May 23 - June 23).
  • Write Reforged. My goal is to finish the first draft by the end of June, so I can do a read-through of it in late June/early July and send the manuscript to alpha reader #1. So for this month, I hope to finish my editing/rewrite through Chapter 16 and write a few more chapters in it.
  • Finish writing Remarked. I want to get this novella written and to my alpha reader #1 in early May.
  • Start writing guest posts for Reborn Blog Tour. The tour runs from May 23 - June 23, and I have quite a few guest posts to write up as well as interview questions to answer, so I thought I would start writing them now, so I can send the tour info out to bloggers as soon as I have purchase links.
Can you believe it is less than two months now to the official release date of Reborn? It just makes my mind spin thinking about it all.

And those who are participating in A-Z Blogging Challenge in April, have fun and I wish you loads of luck! We authors at Untethered Realms will be participating. There will be some group posts, and I will talk about Karshiptas on April 12 and Mephinas on April 15, two interesting creatures from The Fate Challenges' world.

What are your April goals? Are you participating in the A-Z Challenge?

  1. That's why I always print out my work to edit it. I see so much more that way.
Cool that Untethered Realms is participating in the Challenge. The IWSG is signed up as well.
My goal for April - survive.

  2. Terrific Goals, Cherie,

    I know you'll DO IT!

I would LOVE to feature your book with one of my original INTROS for Reborn... I'm hopping around the blogosphere today to find blogger friends who have new books coming out! It's all about helping get the word out!

Let me know if you're interested... I think it would be awesome to feature it just a few weeks before its release.

Let me know. If so, Just send me the blurb and short synopsis, cover.

  3. One of my favourite parts of the writing process is when I complete a project, and get to read it back on my Kindle - I often get the Kindle to read the book to me so I can hear where the mistakes are. :D

  4. You've got a great set of goals. I'm excited to read the next book! My April goals are to get back in revisions and survive a mom visit along with a couple of kid parties. :)

  7. Woo hoo for Reborn coming out soon! I started reading. :D

I WILL [notice the emphasis] finish writing The Rifters and make a good dent in The Initiate [title subject to change]. I also have a class to teach, a short to write, and a short to edit... Oh wow...

  10. I see more of my errors with my Kindle or just in another type of word processing software. When I was in college, I would print out my essays and notice all my proofreading errors on paper! I should do that again, but novels are much longer than college essays. I fear wasting the paper.

Good luck with your goals for next month. :)

  11. Awesome goals, Cherie. Let me know if you want me to write out the questions without reading your book first.

  12. Right now... I'm pretty much in survival mode.

Not setting goals until this mess with my publisher gets resolved in some way.

  13. Congrats on all your hard work and success.

I'm going to put myself in the group of survivors for April. :)

I've toyed with the notion of taking a hiatus from my writing blog, and in the next second I turn from such ideas.

On the writing front, I'm at the moment in one of those fear stages I guess. Just can't seem to get myself to get on it.

Instead, you can find me throwing and interpreting cards, as in Tarot and Lenormand. O well, there is a season for everything. Hopefully, as we move into spring my writing vibes will kick back in.

    Happy April!

  20. You've got a lot on your place, but it's all good stuff. I'm still recovering from A2Z 2011, but I'll be reading as many alphabetical posts as I can.

  21. It definitely helps to catch errors when you can see your book in a "book" format instead of just on screen :-)
I'm also in a group of authors taking part in the A to Z Challenge. The Dauntless Authors :-)

  22. I tend to notice more of my mistakes when my writing is printed. I always have a harder time reading on the computer! You have lots of great things going on. So happy for you!
