First Loves Blogfest

The First Loves Blogfest is hosted by Alex J. Cavanaugh. Click here to find who is participating. The goal is to mention our first loves when it comes to movies, songs/bands, books, and people.

Movie

The first movie I fell in love with was Disney's Beauty and the Beast. I loved that movie, watched it numerous of times, and in fifth grade, I wouldn't be caught without a blue ribbon in my hair and a book in my hands. Belle was intelligent, beautiful, and she wanted more out of life.

Song

I remember hearing Seal's "Kiss from a Rose" in Batman Forever. I completely fell in love with the song, and it makes my breath catch every time I hear it today.

Book

Eloise Jarvis McGraw's The Golden Goblet was the first book I loved that I had to read for school. I read it in sixth grade, and it ignited my passion for history, ancient civilizations, and mythology.

Person

In third grade, I fell in love with a boy. He was very intelligent, tall, and quite cute. I won't say his name, but he was the first guy who made me feel special for my intellect. He said the only people who could sit with him at lunch were those who made straight A's, so my friend and I got to sit with him. Yeah, we both liked him. He skipped fourth grade and went to a different school after third, so I lost touch with him. I wonder what happened to him.

LOL, most girls' grades go DOWN when they fall in love! This is the first story I've heard of a guy who helped girls keep their grades up!

Kiss From A Rose is an amazing song!

I love Beauty and the Beast!! It's definitely one of my favorites. As far as picking the first person, I'd have to go all the way back to kindergarten because I liked a different boy every year :P

Total Beauty and the Beast fan! She was dark haired, and smart, and she wasn't waiting around for a Prince! Belle was, and still is, awesome!

Seal is amazing! I remember asking for his album one Christmas and getting very puzzled looks because the rest of the CDs I wanted were all heavy metal :)

I loved Beauty and the Beast. We need more intellectual heroines out there. And that was a sweet first love story.

Aww, Beauty and the Beast! Such a classic. I would have loved it for the library alone!

Beauty and the Beast was a really good movie. Great writing, fine animation plus the digitally done ballroom scene, and good song writing. I can see how the Disney machine scooped you up.

I loved Beauty & the Beast. I saw it when I lived in NYC. They overbooked the theater, so I had to watch it sitting on the floor.

It'd be interesting to find out what happened to that boy ... sounds like a story for you, Cherie.

I love Beauty and the Beast, even though I was a teenager already by the time it came out. But, still what a phenomenal film! Belle is just the best female character ever. Period.

LOL. Your first crush only allowed straight-A student to sit with him at lunch? That is the funniest thing I've ever heard of from an elementary school kid. Guess he's the president of MENSA now. :D

I still love Kiss from a Rose and Beauty and the Beast. There have been some really great versions of B&B like Beauty, and La Belle et la BĂȘte that are worth checking out if you get the chance. :)

I love Beauty and the Beast, especially watching it with the kids. Great example of character arc that any writer can learn from.

You've got me playing Kiss from a Rose in my head now...
...and I'm with you on Beauty and the beast, and those talking candles - sorry I don't remember their names :/
but it was so heart-warming - the classic Disney stories were by far the best there is!!
