Purrsonal Thursdays: A New Decade

I'm at Christine Rains' blog today talking about blog tours. Plus, I have a very special treat for everyone. Defying Gravity is free for one day only on Amazon. Please spread the word. :) Plus, on Christine's blog, you can have a chance to win a copy of Once Upon a December Nightmare or The Best of Raven and the Writing Desk. Also, you can now add Fighting Gravity (Gravity #2) and Pull of Gravity (Gravity #3) to your Goodreads lists. Cover art is forthcoming with both books.

That's right, folks. Today is my thirtieth birthday.

I'm not quite sure how I feel about turning thirty. Part of me is excited. Good things seem to happen to people in their thirties. Life seems to work itself out more. People are more grounded in who they are and what they do. I believe this decade will lead to the publication of my debut novel. Maybe I'll even decide to have a child or two. You never know. Thirty seems so adult.

At the same time, I don't feel like I am thirty. I still get carded at R-rated movies. I often get mistaken as a student at work. I don't have a house or a family of my own (although the cats do count!). I still feel as awkward as I did in high school when it comes to social interactions. Hm, maybe that's why I write YA. Heh.

So, today I'm thirty. I have the day off from work (the entire weekend actually). I have no real plans. I'll probably edit a bit, read a bit, check my Amazon Ranking a lot (seriously, go get your free copy of Defying Gravity), and maybe write a bit.

I guess it's time to check my Amazon ranking again. (Yes, please, go and get you a copy of Defying Gravity!)

Happy Birthday, Cherie! Hope you enjoy you day and that your Amazon ranking soars!

I tried to avoid my thirtieth birthday, and I still don't feel my age four years later. What you said about "still feel as awkward as I did in high school...", that sounds like me too :).

Happy Birthday. ENJOY IT!

I'm almost 20yrs older than you and people still treat me like I'm much younger LOL! I told my hubby I would dye my hair grey to be seen more as my proper age and he was horrified LOL!

Wait, you go to R-rated movies?! Lol!

Happy birthday, once again! Good to see your other two Gravity books on Goodreads (I'd be getting more of mine up if I could just write the darn blurbs! Man, those things are tough...)

Happy, happy birthday, Cherie!! I'm going to download Defying Gravity as soon as I get home from work. Thanks for giving us all a present for your day!

I think a new decade can be jarring, but it's also very exciting. When I turned 40 I never would have guessed all the fun changes I was going to experience in just a few short years. I hope your 30s decade brings you just as many surprises and fun. :)

I just discovered you because of your blog tour. I downloaded my cop and plan to read it as soon as I can (between my own writing and watching energetic kids, it's challenging to find time to do anything).

Anyway, congratulations and happy birthday!

Happy birthday! And if you look really young for thirty, get excited - think how young you'll look when you aren't really young anymore!

Happy birthday! :) I was terrified of turning thirty, but it's been a good decade. I still feel like I'm in my mid-twenties, though. I think it's strange people generally feel younger than their years.

You will be happier to retain a younger looking when when you approach forty. Good luck in making all your dream come through.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I'm liking my 30's, so far (I'm 34). Though I have to say that I do NOT get carded anymore, which is sort of sad. Sigh.

I hope your 30's bring you everything you mentioned, and more!
