Purrsonal Stories: Awkward Like a Cat

And no, I'm not talking about my beautiful Cinderella kitty in the picture above.

Cats are generally beautiful, graceful creatures. They are the 'always land on their feet' type. I suppose they get it from their natural instincts as well as from their mothers.

My sister Kara and brooding Romeo
I must've been a bad cat mama, though. My poor orphaned Romeo is awkward. He gets it from me. He has a tendency to bump into things. He doesn't always land on his feet (even sprained his foot once from landing awkwardly). He has a long tail and tries to catch it (or its shadow) and will run into things.

I do the same things (although I don't have a tail). I am forever bumping my arms into something and legs. I haven't gone to a writers' conference yet where I didn't bang my knees onto the chairs. When I was in theater, I was forever doing awkward things like getting splinters in my legs from fainting (on purpose for the play) or falling 8-feet from a shelf (I did land on my feet). I can be standing perfectly still and almost fall over. Yet, I'm pretty good on a balance beam.

Yeah, I'm awkward like my cat. Or he might be awkward like me. At least Cinderella got all the grace that we lack.

Maybe awkward on your feet means your great in your head and on paper.

I'm very clumsy myself! Especially when I'm sleepy- then it gets really bad.

I've known many cats and I think whoever came up with the phrase "graceful as a cat" never owned a cat.

My husband calls me a klutz! My cats are quite graceful most of the time, until they fall off the bed for no apparent reason! I've given you the Sunshine Award on my blog.

I didn't know that cats could pick up traits like that. How interesting. Well, it's okay to be a klutz. I'm getting to be that way as well.

Young cats have surprising dexterity. Old ones are just as immobile as us humans.

I'm the only woman of my age I know that constantly has skinned knees like an eight year old from falling over.

I walk into walls even though I swear I'm not anywhere close to them. I think it has to do with being more in our heads than our bodies!

I like the idea that cats can end up like their owners. Maybe that's why my cat Bodhi is paranoid and anti-social... o_0

:) Love the post. I'm kind of unaware of my awkwardness, if that makes any sense. I bruise easily and frequently, but for the most part couldn't tell you what I hit.

My kitties are both fairly graceful, except when they relax, lol. They tend to roll off things.

AH A FELLOW CAT LOVER!!

Sorry for yelling, but I love my cat :)

I don't know why, but I've always been more of a dog lover. Maybe it's because most of my family is allergic to cats.

But I love watching a graceful cat move...it's beautiful.

Oh, I thought I was the only one! Not only do I bump into things a lot, but my younger cat is kinda awkward - he tries to jump up to the counter, to drink from the faucet, and doesn't always make it (usually when he's been thinking about it too long, instead of just jumping up).
