Fantasy Chat: Last Fantasy Book Read

This month I've been reading two fantasy-related novels.

The one is The Peculiars by Maureen Doyle McQuerry. It's an interesting YA Steampunk novel. I finished it over the weekend, and it's a solid 3 bookworms from my bookworm rating scale on Surrounded by Books Reviews. I haven't read a lot of steampunk and this one also has a good dose of mystery and peculiarities to it. Click here to read the description and add to your Goodreads list.

The other book is Slipstream by Michael Offutt. Yes, I was one of the lucky few to receive an ARC. This one is borderline science fiction and fantasy, and I'm really enjoying it. So far, it's right up there to high four to possibly five bookworms. Strange things are happening to the MC, and I can't wait to find out more. So what fantasy book are you reading now? Or which one did you read last? What did you think of it?

Sometimes steampunk works for me and sometimes it's too odd for me to get into. I'm reading Laura Josephsen's Rising Book 1 right now. It's a tiny bit steampunky. She's created an intriguing world with a lot of political mystery.

I'm looking forward to hearing what you think of Slipstream :)
I'm slowly introducing myself to steampunk - I don't know if YA is the way to go but I'll take a look see :)

What exactly is Steampunk? I'm not completely out of the loop, but I only know a little on the subject. There's even a new tarot deck coming out with this theme. Is this the new rave?

What I'm reading? It's not fantasy and it's not new. I'm currently reading Stephen King's The Stand - never read or watched. I have the uncut version, so I'll be on this ride for a while. Love the characters so far.

I just finished Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn series - amazing - and am in the middle of Daryl Gregory's Pandemonium, a book that doesn't have Sanderson's complicated plot, but is stunningly powerful. Books like those are the reasons I read.

I'm really looking forward to Michael's book once its out. I'll be getting it as soon as its available.

I just finished a review copy of Ciara Knight's The Curse Of Gremdon - Fantasy with elements of romance.
I enjoyed it.
Next is yours on the list for March.

The Peculiars sounds interesting. I haven't read a lot of Steampunk but the worldbuilding tends to be fantastic.

I'm so jealous you're getting to read Michael's book early, I really really want to read that one.
