Of course, everything else is on pause now because of NaNoWriMo. My November goal is to write two novels (Starred and The Last Prophetess) and to end up with at least 100,000 words.
If you want to read excerpts and synopses of Starred and The Last Prophetess, click here.
So far, NaNoWriMo is going well. Random.org chose my first two "scenes" to write for Starred. Act I, Scene 8 and Act I, Scene 10. I'm using "scenes" instead of chapters, but it's still standard novel writing. I finished both scenes and used Random.org to chose the next two: Act II, Scene 7 and Act III, Scene 2. I wrote Act II, Scene 7 yesterday as well, but I'm saving Act II, Scene 2 until today and picking two more random scenes.
It's only the start of NaNoWriMo, but I love the randomness of the scene picking. It's like having writing prompts, especially since I already wrote the first line for each scene with my outline. Day 1's total word count was 5,625. That's almost what I wrote in all September and October combined!
My goal for Starred is to write at least two scenes a day and have it be at least 50,000 words. So far, I'm a little ahead. I hope I can keep it up. My planning for novel two needs a lot more work, so a few days ahead of schedule will help me. A lot.
If you're participating in NaNoWriMo, how's it going? If you aren't, what are you up to?

I'm writing like NaNoWriMo to get my book done on time! Yesterday I wrote 2K and the day before I wrote 2K as well, so I'm on a roll this week!
Good luck with your word count today!
I love how you have the scenes worked out, and the first line of each written as a prompt. I think that must really get the creative juices flowing - such as good idea!
My rewrites have crawled to a halt, due to lack of time, but I have a break coming up, so I hope to get a lot of writing done soon.
100K? Holy cow! No NaNo for me, but my students are participating, and I'm finishing up the first year of Write1Sub1: 43 new submisssions out, 9 more to go. I wish you well!
Wow! You're burning through the words! Keep it up. :-)
Milo - That's awesome your students are participating in NaNo. Good luck with your Write1Sub1!
Way to go, Cherie! I've been swamped editing my first 3 books and haven't written much lately. Hope to get back soon! Your blog rocks, btw =)
It's so neat about your random scene picking and I'm glad it's going well for you. I had a good first day. Would have been better if I could shut off my inner editor! Keep writing. You're doing wonderfully!
I wrote a little over 1.2k yesterday. Not quite as much as I would have liked but with the power going out and not having it for days, my life has been very hectic this past week.
I knew you were planning on writing two stories, but somehow the word count didn't filter through my brain. 100k? Wow, best of luck.
Doing NaNo too, but haven't passed one day's target yet. :(
100k is a lot of words for a month, but I suppose you have a plan.
WOW! I'm impressed with your goals! Best of luck to you. Me? I'm not doing NaNo, but I am busy sending out query letters. :0)
