Wednesday's Writing Update

Today's Wednesday, so you know what time it is. It's time for another writing update.

First, thank you so much to everyone who has voted and commented upon my "First Page Critique Contest." The winner will be announced on Monday. If you haven't voted yet, please do. Click here for to read through the entries and comment on that post to vote and leave your name and/or email, so I can contact you, if you are a winner.

Also, today is my day for a short story on Raven and the Writing Desk. You can read my mythology inspired story "Rays of Ra" here.

Since my three days off of work last week, I've been very bad about writing. I edited the first chapters of my novels, including beginning to rewrite the first part of The Phoenix Prophetess. I haven't written anything else this month except for "Rays of Ra," although I hope to change that today.

Last month, I had a schedule, and I stuck with it. This month has been harder to keep that schedule. Since I have so many short stories I need/want to write, I plan to use the rest of this week and possibly next week to work on them.

In submission world, I still have five submissions out there. I just want to know one way or the other. Please!

On Thursday, I went to my Valley Writers meeting. I found out that my story "Soul Drinker" won third place in the Valley Writers' portion of the Golden Nib competition. Unfortunately, my entry won't be going to state, but I have to admit I'm thrilled with third place. Next year, I hope to move up to second or first. Also, I read my first chapter of Moonlight Murders, and I got tons of great advice. I rewrote/edited the first chapter, so I'm pretty happy with it. Now, I just hope I can make the rest of the novel as good.

That's pretty much all the writing related news I have.

In my other part of life, we did get our kitten Romeo neutered on last Wednesday. He did so well in the car and going there and back. The drugs really messed with his head, so when we got him home, he didn't know where he was at and panicked. We managed to get him into his cage before he hurt himself. By morning, he was back to his old self, and he's done fine ever since. He's a resilient little thing.

I also have my ten year high school reunion coming up on August 20. I have until Saturday to register. I'm debating whether or not to go. Has anyone else gone to high school reunions? If you have, were you glad you went? I have a few more days to decide, but I'm on the fence with it.

I hope everyone has a great day!

I haven't been to a high school reunion. We didn't have a 5 year one for some reason. A bunch of my classmates got together at a bar for an informal one, but I was pregnant at the time and didn't go. That doesn't mean that I won't be open to going to one ever, though. If you do go, have fun!

If you do go, you'll have to tell us all about it! (left a comment on your LJ post , too!)

Awwww, poor Romeo. That'll be Osho next week.

Congrats on getting third place! That's really cool.

I avoided my reunion. I was miserable in high school, so going to a reunion was pointless for me. Anyone I'd want to see at a reunion I'm in touch with - and none of them went either.

It's kinda funny, though. The main reason I'm thinking about going to my high school reunion is because it'll be a great networking thing for my writing. I can say "look, I'm a writer. My ebook comes out on Tuesday." (Tuesday at the time of the reunion.)
