Happy Bloversary to Me! And Winners!

Today marks three years of blogging! On May 29, 2009, I decided to create this blog. I already had one on Livejournal, but my friend Aubrie told me about Blogger. Quickly, Blogger became my blogging home. Aubrie was also my first follower. Three years later, I have over 500 followers and have almost 700 posts and 35,000 page views. I'm amazed and humbled by all of this.

In honor of my blogversary and 500 followers, I am offering a $10 Gift Card to Amazon. All you have to do is comment below and sign up for my author newsletter here. Anyone who signs up for my newsletter receives a free fantasy short story. If you already have signed up, then just comment below to enter the giveaway. I'll announce the winner on Thursday, May 31.

Okay, I know why you are all really here. You want to hear the winners for the 2nd Annual Flash Fiction Blogfest. We had 63 entries, and I narrowed it down to a top six finalists. Voting began on Friday and ended yesterday. We had 180 votes! I said I would pick a random winner as well of a $10 Amazon GC. That winner is:

In third place, we had a tie of 22 votes a piece for Geek Banter (1) and Far Away Eyes (2). In the event of a tie, I said I would use Random.org to choose between them. Our third place winner, who will receive a $15 GC from Amazon, is:

With 48 votes, our second place winner, who will receive a $20 GC from Amazon, is:

With 60 votes, our first place winner of the 2nd Annual Flash Fiction Blogfest, who will receive a $25 GC from Amazon, is:

Congratulations to all the winners! Thank you so much to everyone who spread word about this blogfest, participated, and voted. There will definitely be a third flash fiction blogfest, so stay tuned for details of it in May 2013.

Wednesday's Writing Update: Rewrites and Winners

Happy Wednesday!

Last Wednesday was the one year anniversary of the release of my horror novelette Once Upon a December Nightmare. For those who commented, if you wish to have a copy, it's yours. These people are Summer Ross, Nicole Zoltack, C D Meetens, and Julie Flanders. Just send me an email at cherie.reich(at)gmail(dot)com to claim your prize.

Tomorrow is September 1st. I can't believe it. August stats and September goals will be up next Wednesday. Also, I will begin my September blogger schedule tomorrow:
Mondays – Promo Mondays (Promo, Interviews, Guest Posts)
Tuesdays – Teaser Tuesdays (Two lines from a current book I'm reading, hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading
 Wednesdays – Wednesday's Writing Update
Thursdays – 1st and 3rd Ask the Editor
 2nd and 4th – Purrsonal Thursdays
 Fridays - #fridayflash

Now, on to rewrites. I'm working hard (NaNo-style) to finish up the last half of Virtuoso. Right now, I'm focusing just on the story and getting it all into 1st person. My goal is to finish it by Labor Day. Then, I can make sweeping passes for emotions, descriptions, additional scenes needed, etc.

So what are you working on lately?

And the winners of the Flash Fiction Blogfest are...

First, I want to thank everyone who voted for our lovely six finalists and for those who entered. I had fun doing this, so I might have to make the Flash Fiction Blogfest an annual event to the blog.

First, our random winner. I put numbers besides everyone's names who submitted an entry. Then I used the Randon Number Generator to find a number. The winner was Cher Green. Cher, you have a choice of either a copy of my Once Upon a December Nightmare or a copy of Raven and the Writing Desk 2010 when it becomes available. Email me your choice, and I'll send it to you (or send it to you when it comes out).

Honorable mention goes to J.C. Martin. Take a look at the books I've reviewed. Here is the list. Pick one you want, and I'll send it to you. Congratulations!

We had tied third place winners. I didn't want to choose between them. Sonia and Christine Rains, you have both one a $15 Amazon Gift Card. I'll contact you soon for an email address to send the card to you. Congrats!

Our second place winner was Bill Blume. Congratulations, Bill! You have a choice of three items: the writer's kit (pens, notebook, sticky notes) or a $20 gift card from Amazon or a 25-page critique. Let me know which one you choose, and we'll work out the details.

And, our first place winner is...Lisa Potts! Congratulations!! You have a choice of a $25 Amazon gift card or a 50-page critique. Plus, you get this winner badge to put on your blog, if you so choose as our first first-place winner of my Flash Fiction Blogfest.

Congratulations, everyone! And, thank you once again for entering and voting!
