I have exciting news to share with everyone. Pull of Gravity, the stand-alone book three of the Gravity trilogy, is now available!

I'm really pleased with how this last story turned out, and I would say it is the best of the three. Of course, my work with the trilogy isn't over. I am now compiling the three stories into one book and adding epilogues for each story. Then, I hope to have a print/ebook editions of Gravity: The Complete Trilogy available sometime in September.

A space fantasy novella

Cher, tell us a little about yourself.

As a child, I found myself intrigued by books. As a teenager, I wanted to create my own worlds, so I did within poetry and short stories. After graduating high school, life took over and there was not time for my dream. In 2001, I decided it was time to follow my dream. I’ve been writing and honing my skills ever since.

That's wonderful you decided to follow your dream. When did you first consider yourself a writer? 

I’ve been a writer all my life, even if the words didn’t make it to paper.

I love that answer. Perhaps we writers were always writers. You mentioned that your novella Escape to Love is outside your normal genre. What is your normal genre?  

Horror is actually my preferred genre, but not blood and guts type of stories. Thinking over my short stories and novel in progress, I’d have to say paranormal suspense is usually the direction my stories take.
 

I love horror, and I definitely enjoying writing some paranormal suspense. What inspired you to write Escape to Love? 

I wish I could say a dream, or a life experience, but this story was actually created with the purpose of submitting to eTreasures Publishing. Invited to write a piece for one of their themed collections, I brainstormed and came up with the story idea. I wrote from beginning to end with no glitches. It was a fun story to explore and create.

That does sound like a lot of fun. I know writing to a theme can help with inspiration. What other projects are you working on? Do you have anything else coming out soon?

I have a novel, paranormal suspense, in progress. Dark Valentine has accepted one of my short stories, due to come out in September. We are working on a new title, so I can’t really say more on that. New projects pop up every day, a new idea germ, a new story. They don’t all make it to paper, but I have notes all over the place.

Good luck with your novel, and that's awesome about Dark Valentine accepting your short story. What advice would you give to writers?

Practice, practice, practice. I know it’s been said before, but this is the only way to improve your writing. And don’t worry if you are doing it right or not, just keep writing. Also, when submitting, don’t give up. Rejection is part of the process, and for the most part has nothing to do with your writing, your timing is just off or you sent to the wrong editor. Critique partners are a must. I wouldn’t be where I am now without a select few.

Writing Goals and a Novella

I try to set writing goals for myself. Sometimes I accomplish them, and sometimes I don't. I don't try to stress over it much because most of those goals are just for me. Yet, I mentioned before that I made some writing goals for July. So far, I've kept them for the most part.

I am writing more. I don't have word counts yet as I'm trying to stay away from them until closer to the end of the month and tally them up. On Monday, I wrote chapter one of Moonlight Murders and finished the edits for Once Upon a December Nightmare. On Tuesday, I worked on my flash fiction piece for Friday. Unfortunately, I didn't get anything written in my new short story. On Wednesday, I finished my flash fiction piece, even though I told myself that I would do it on Thursday, and I almost finished writing the synopsis for my first novella. Today, I would like to go over my flash fiction piece one more time and see if I can cut some words (it's at 670, which is still flash, but I'd like to make it less). Tomorrow, I'd like to work on my new short story, and this weekend, I want to edit a friend's new WIP and edit a chapter of Virtuoso. Then, I'll have to start the process again.

As I mentioned above, I am working on my first novella. According to Wikipedia, a novella is a work of fiction between 17,500-40,000 words. Of course, publishers all have different terms of novella, but I hope to have mine between 20,000-30,000 words, and it'll likely be around eight chapters. The novella I'm working on is titled Panther Moon, and it is Paranormal Romance. The idea is a type of Romeo & Juliet with a twist. Here is what it is about:

Leonard "Leo" Washington is second-in-command with the Roselan pack, a group of were-panthers lead by Lucius Roselan living in the Florida Everglades. Portia Roselan is the daughter of Alexander Roselan, head of the Roselan fortune and the main were-panther group in Miami. When Leo meets Portia, their lives are forever changed. Portia wants to reunite her uncle and father, twins separated by greed and anger, and the Roselan packs, but her uncle has other plans for the reunion. Unwittingly using Leo, Lucius arranges for Portia's kidnapping. Well-made plans go awry, though, and Leo must do whatever he can to save Portia or both packs might forever be divided.

*laughs* I'm still working on the blurb for it, but you'll get the gist. There will be romance, but I don't yet know how much heat I'll put in it, although one scene is particularly enticing, or at least I think so. It's an idea that has been in my mind for a couple months, so I'm excited to begin working on it.

Don't forget tomorrow is Flash Fiction Fridays! And, I have an idea for Flash Fiction Fridays in August of using the characters from Once Upon a December Nightmare and creating new flash fiction stories about them one for each Friday to celebrate its coming release. So, stay tuned for them. *grins*
