So February was a pretty epic fail on the writing front. I'm proud of what I rewrote/edited for the 3-4 days I worked on Forged, but I should have done more. A combination of lack of energy and an obsession for all things Stargate and physics helped me to push Forged to the side. At the rate I'm going, Forged may come out this year. It may not. I need to get back into rewriting it, though. But I also kinda need to watch Stargate and read about hyperspace, parallel universes, antimatter, dark energy/matter, etc. And then I have this idea for a science fiction series that does involve an Einstein-Rosen bridge portal (like Stargate with a device to travel between planets but many differences too), but I keep telling it no. At least until The Fate Challenges are published.
I must admit I'm pretty insecure about my special interest taking over all else.
What are you insecure about?
IWSG Question: How do you celebrate when you achieve a writing goal/finish a story? See. I knew I was doing something wrong. I never celebrate when I achieve a writing goal or finish a story. Maybe if I did, it might help to get to that "the end." I also don't write "the end" on a finished draft either. I'm weird like that.

March 8 is my 36 birthday. To celebrate, anyone who enters this month's giveaway will win a copy of one of my ebooks. Please one entry per person.
Joe Mallozzi's blog also follow @StargateNow on Twitter.
Hi Cherie, I also don't write "the end" on a finished draft. I too am weird like that.
You must celebrate finishing a writing goal :) its really fun and satisfying.
I don't celebrate either so I'm weird right there with you LOL. Although honestly it's been so long since I finished a goal even if I did celebrate I think by now I would have forgotten what I did!
I don't do much either.
I haven't watched the online Stargate series but I'm all for another regular one! It needs to be more like the first two though. Universe wasn't very good. Too dour.
Any motion forward is progress. I haven't written anything (fiction) since I shelved my last project. So you are definitely ahead of me.
Your sci-fi idea sounds cool. I am a huge fan of StarGate, Star Trek and Star Wars. StarGate Atlantis my fave of that series. Happy IWSG Day.
I haven't watched the series, but I remember a movie Stargate.
Writing THE END is the best part! It requires no brain power:) I have a MG scifi book in the works, but it's on hold until I finish my current MG mystery. Good luck!
Don't feel badly about February, Cherie. Most of the blog posts I've read this morning lean that way, too. Myself included.
Ooh, writing 'the end' is a favorite of mine. Sounds kind of kiddish, but there's something about it for me, like a private pat on the back.
Sometimes the best things we do for our writing is to read and watch things that get our imaginations going. It sounds like you are doing just that! Don't be too hard on yourself.
Hoping you have a wonderful writing month. :)
Oh, those ideas that sometimes take over our heads! ;) I think maybe your muse needed a little vacation. And you should totally celebrate! With more Stargate. *LOL*
Here's my toast to you for any missed celebrations! Woohoo, Cherie! Yeah! You're awesome! Keep up the good work! And have fun with your side hobbies too. They're all fodder for future stories, so nothing is a waste of time, really. :)
Maybe you're just prepping to write your own Stargate-like series. :)
I had a terrible February, writing-wise. Very little was actually written. Hoping I can improve on that this spring. Best of luck with your goals!
Happy Birthday! I meant to add that to my comment and just now remembered. Hope you have a lovely day!!!
Hey, it's important to feed your brain. If you're obsessed with physics at the moment, go for it. I just wish the science channel had more shows on physics.
I don't celebrate much either and am thinking I should change it.
Way to go with your writing!
I loved Stargate so I get the obsession. :)
I know what you mean about celebrations. I never write "The End" either because I always feel like I'm not sure it's really finished. That's probably not a healthy attitude. Hmm. Celebrations. I think we all need more of them.
Happy Birthday, amazing writer-librarian-lady!!! Hope it's a great one!
Here's hoping you're successful in getting back to forged and yep, you should find a way to celebrate. I don't type 'The End' either. :D
Happy birthday tomorrow. Have a lovely day.
I don't celebrate when reaching a goal or finishing a story, either. I just keep on going. As for The End, I never write that. Never occurred to me. Maybe if I did, I wouldn't keep going back to make changes. Mmm, that's a thought. Thanks for stopping by my blog.
Sometimes you just have to tell those shiny story ideas no. :)
Hope you have a great birthday!
Star Gate rocks! Also, have you heard of "fan fiction" sites? You could feed your fetish for SG by writing fan fiction! My daughter does it with Buffy. You can write your novels and fan fiction and have the best of both worlds? Thanks for dropping by my blog!
I never write The End either. And My son's birthday is March 8. Congrats to you (and me)!
It seems like many people are re-calibrating their January and February goals for March. I know I am! After the holidays and during the cold, all I want to do is snuggle up by my space heater and think about nothing until the sun finally warms up the dirt!
After blog hopping, I've read that more writer's don't DO anything after finishing a special project. But I think after today we'll start hearing about more writer's celebrating.
If I wrote 1k this past month, that's a lot. You'll figure out which project tickles your fancy and then go for it.
Happy Birthday. It's also my son's birthday so I'll think of you when we celebrate. I would love it if they brought back Stargate. I loved Stargate Atlantis too.
Happy Birthday! Sounds like you still have great writing goals and are smart to wait on the one you want to publish until you can really focus on your edits. You've gone through a lot of health challenges so don't be too hard on yourself.
I'm a big Stargate fan - and I love disappearing into those kinds of research too! Good luck with your story - sounds like it's going to be fun!
Happy Birthday-- It is March 8th in Singapore already :)
Wishing you all the best with your Stargate campaign, and with your story. I never write 'The End' either, but I do celebrate.
Early happy birthday and thanks for the gifts!
Are you turning into me? I let waaaaay too many obsessions get in the way of my writing and everything else in my life. It's a super bad habit, or personality quirk, or whatever. I wish it were easier to reign in. Maybe you can before it's too late!
There's a special place in my heart for Daniel from Stargate. :)
I hear you on things we love distracting us from writing. Best of luck with your revisions!
Happy Birthday, Cherie! May it be wondrous and filled with book sales:)
I admire sci-fi writers. You really have to know your science, physics, weather, etc. which I'm abysmally poor at.
Happy Birthday, Cherie. Have a great day!
Happy Birthday, Cherie! And you've accomplished a lot YTD. I say your side interest deserves time too. Go for it!
Happy Birthday, Cherie. I think we had the same February. When I wrote, I did well. But I didn't write often enough. I love your idea of a sci-fi book. Among other genres, I write sci-fi romance. If I accomplish my goal for this year, it will be my 3rd book to be published in 2018. The characters still speak to me, but their voices are almost drowned out by the ones from the other 2 books. Persevere. Keep writing.
Oh, I'm late, but happy birthday! Hope it went fantastically for you! ~\o/~
And sorry to hear February wasn't as productive as you wanted it to be. Sometimes our brains just need to recharge by focusing on something else for a little while. I'm sure you'll find the motivation to work on Forged more regularly again!
Gutted I didn't drop by sooner, as I would've seen the Stargate Twitter campaign and taken part. I loved Stargate, in all its forms.
Happy Belated Birthday! I hope you had a nice day. You should definitely celebrate when you reach major milestones in your writing. It's such a great incentive. Good luck with your March writing targets!
Stargate was an awesome show - both the movie and series. Perhaps I'll join you in binging :)
I adored Stargate... was quite obsessed with it. I still sometimes dream of going through the gate.
I don't celebrate anymore, either. Maybe I should. You got some done on Forged. That's awesome.
Yeah, Feb wasn't my best month either. But it looks like you're bouncing back! I hope to do so as well:)
I don't write "The End" either, but maybe I should. There are some editors out there that require that or three pound signs to indicate the end of the manuscript (short stories), but I only add it in when requested. I hope you can get back to your revisions! That's my least favorite part.
I'm not sure any of my projects feel completely finished. I run out of improvements and seek out beta readers. They help me determine if I'm ready to submit. :-)
I don't usually celebrate finishing a project. I probably should, though. Give myself more incentive.
