A while back, I mentioned I was going to the doctor about my wrist. Well, a couple weeks ago, I had a nerve conduction study. It's confirmed I do have carpal tunnel. The good news is it's mild and hasn't caused any permanent nerve damage yet. My day job is working to make my work space more ergonomic. I also discovered I have osteoarthritis, which accounts for my joint/back pain. Because of these problems, there will be times that I'll have to go slower on my writing/editing and have already removed Destined (The Fate Challenges 3) off my 2015 goals list.
As for the progress on my March goals, I've been pushing through the pain to get things done. I finished editing my friend's novel (It was so good, and I think people will enjoy it!). As for Once upon a Nightmare: A Collection, I completed the content edits, line edits, and Kindle proofread. Starting today, I'll be formatting the collection for print. I haven't made much progress in writing "On Day 168," but I'm still hoping to finish it by the end of March or early April.
Here are my April goals:
- Once upon a Nightmare: A Collection - I have the print proofread, incorporating changes in the print and ebook documents, final formatting, and publishing. This collection will be published in April.
- Once upon a Nightmare Blog Tour - A few people inquired about promoting the collection. I plan to create a promo post with options for them. Also, I am going ahead with the you-choose-your-horror-ending type blog tour. My goal is to write up the story and find hosts (I have a list of those who have said they'd be interested in helping out). You'll see the blog tour sometime in May.
- Revamp the Blog - A while ago, I decided my author tagline should be "Feeding your inner bookworm." I've been meaning to change the blog to reflect my tagline, but I haven't quite gotten around to it yet. A lot of the images I want to create involve drawing them too. If I want to get them done at some point, then I have to add them to my to-do list.
- Marked - If time, I want to get back to writing Marked (The Fate Challenges 1.5).
What are your goals for April?
2015 Stats (1/1/2015-3/24/2015): 14,131 words written and 811 pages edited
Sorry about the carpal tunnel. Hope you can keep it under control and avoid surgery.
Send me links and stuff and I'll plug your book next month!
Oh no! At least it's mild and you are smart enough to adjust your schedule. Taking care of your health and body will pay off in the long run. Count me in for promotion and I can try to get a review done (schedule depending).
That's a bummer about the carpel tunnel. At least you caught it early and can take steps to keep it from advancing quickly.
My April goal is to survive the A to Z Challenge. There's also 2 shiny new ideas I'm now writing. Because I needed more when I have edits to do on Path of Angels. *le sigh*
Wow you are organized. For me its writing and revising.
On your arm: The key to avoiding repetitive damage is change. Right arm aches use the left, or change the angle, height, etc and don't forget to stretch thoroughly. Keep safe. :-)

I'm sorry about your carpal tunnel. :( A lot of people in my family have it, and at least there are things that can be done to help ease the pain.
If you're looking for more people to help with a blog tour, please feel free to email me (shelleysly2 at gmail dot com), I'd be happy to help!
Sorry about the carpal tunnel :(
My main goal for April is the A to Z Challenge. And hopefully getting some work done on editing my first novel before writing ten million sequels for it...
Good luck with your goals!
Glad your job is working with you. I had to get a higher chair and a special keyboard tray under my desk to help solve my wrist pain issues.
I hope you find sufficient relief from carpal tunnel. That's not a fun condition to have, particularly when one is a writer.
My goal for April is to finally have the final version of one of the books I'm releasing this year. I'm getting it into the best shape it'll have been in during its over 20 years of existence.
Sorry about the carpal tunnel. That's no fun! Take it easy, and maybe it'll go away. Good luck with your goals.
My mom had carpal tunnel. I've always worried that I'd get it since I'm in front of my computer all the time. I hope there are things you can do to avoid surgery.
Osteo sucks!!! (I know, from experience) It's one of those things that can't be cured, but 'managed' ... May you figure a way to do the things you want to without too much trouble.
So sorry about the carpal tunnel. I hope the modifications at work help so that at least it doesn't get any worse. Such a shame that you have to cut back on your writing.
I'd be more than happy to help with Nightmare promotion! Put me down for whatever. I love the original version so I'm looking forward to reading your changes. Sounds awesome.
Take care of your health!
You know where I am, muddling through.
I'm so sorry to hear about the health issues. My sister is actually a physical therapist who has made a bunch of videos with exercises to help with various ailments. Here's the one for Carpal Tunnel: http://www.askdoctorjo.com/content/carpal-tunnel-syndrome-stretches Several of my writing friends have said the exercises helped their wrists, so maybe they will help you, too. She also has a bunch for back stretches that might also help.
As for my April goals, I've signed up for Camp NaNo, but I haven't decided what project I'm working on yet. I need to get on that! :-) Best of luck to you with your goals!
When my hands get that nervous tingle, I get a little nervous, but then it goes away
Great job on the goals! I'd be more than happy to give you a shout out in May. (eseckman(at)ymail(dot)com)
Aw, that really sucks about the carpal tunnel, and the osteoarthritis, too. Mild or not, that doesn't sound fun to deal with at all. Sorry you're not able to write/edit as quickly as you'd like as a result!
Anyway, best of luck with all your goals! How exciting that the collection will be out as soon as April. I'm more than happy to help out with the blog tour for it, if you want!
Eek! Carpal tunnel is no fun. I hope things either get better, or don't get worse. Take care!
You know I'll definitely help out in any way. Hopefully you'll get your workstation completely revamped very soon. My April goal: decompress from all that touring!
That's really great, Cherie! I want to help with the blog tour.
So sorry to hear about your carpal tunnel. I hope you can get it managed very soon.
I'm so sorry about your health problems. That is quite upsetting.
I would love to help you. My email is mureesdup(at)gmail(dot)com.
Sorry to hear about the carpal tunnel! The silver lining is catching it early, as you said. There are some yoga moves for wrists; I wonder if those would help.
As for me, I finally decided what project I want to work on, the second book in one of my series. I just finished the first chapter. For April I'll just keep working on that, and need to send some queries for a different book.
Stinks about the carpal tunnel. Glad you are able to make some changes at work to make things better!
I would love to help you spread the word. I can post info to my Author Tracker blog if you would like.
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome can be quite a torture. Be careful, Cherie. Do wrist exercises and check your typing movement.
I'm sorry about your pain. I'm hoping you get the relief you need.
I'd love to read and review your book.
Oh, no. So sorry about the carpel tunnel. Please manage it with meds or pressure point treatment or whatever works for you.
I've struggled with some of the joint pain stuff, and what really helps are frequent breaks from writing for stretching and walking around. Also, a hot shower and stretching in the shower. Proper posture when sitting helps too.
Sorry to hear you have been suffering, Cherie. I hope you are taking care of yourself and remember to give yourself a break when it's needed. Well done for everything you have achieved this month! I wish I could have been so productive. April is a fantastic month over here, mainly because it's my birthday month :), but also it's the time of year when the sun shines for longer and all the beauty begins to return after the dreary winter months. Sending you lots of Spring healing power from across the pond for a painfree productive month. All the best.
Sorry to hear about your health problems and you had to reassess your goals but you've still got plenty going on. I loved Once Upon A Nightmare and I'm interested to hear there'll be a second edition. You can chalk me up for the blog tour!
So sorry to hear about the carpal tunnel but I'm glad you caught it in time to avoid permanent nerve damage.
I'd love to host you on your blog tour. Just let me know! I've promised my blog on a couple of dates in May already but I'm mostly free.
Nightmare looks awesome, Cherie. For print, are you going through Createspace or Direct2Digital? I hope you can nip that carpal tunnel in the bud.
Glad you caught the wrist issue in time. Great goals. Here's to reaching them all.
Awesome goals. All the best!
