Q is for Quests in Fantasy Fiction

This year's A to Z Challenge theme is: All About Foxwick. I know I said on Saturday that I would be commenting more, and I still plan to. I finished Camp NaNoWriMo on Monday, but then I caught my dad's cold over the weekend. Yes, I'm totally blaming it on him, and I've just not felt well. I'm starting to feel better--when I'm not coughing up lungs--so I'll be making the rounds soon. I promise.

Q is for ... Quests in Fantasy Fiction

Quests and fantasy go hand in hand and Foxwick is no exception. I’ve showcased various quests in the flash fiction piece “Quaylin’s Quest” from A to Z Flashes of Foxwick as well as the short story “Mage Game” from Women of Foxwick. Another quest comes along in “Monster Hunter” from the forthcoming Men of Foxwick.

What’s your favorite quest in fantasy fiction?

  1. Oh, quests are the BEST in fantasy or any kind of spec fic. I love it when a hero and his/her buddies go off on a quest! :-)

  2. Wouldn't be epic fantasy without a quest.

  3. I don't really care what the quest is, or even if it's been done before. It just has to be done well and have something unique about it.

  4. I hope you get well real soon.
My favorite quest is still the ring quest. :)

  8. I don't mind quests but I kind of like George R.R. Martin's style of doing things sans quest.

  9. I'm looking at my books and I think the only ones I have are Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings. Both epic quests.

  10. My boyfriend and I dragged my 9yr old son on a "quest" to walk some of the Santiago De Compostela trail in Europe after watching all the Lord of the Rings movies. Quests are awesome in fiction. In reality, painful, wet and hungry about sums it up.
