Sometimes I want to read more than anything else.
Usually these times occur in the winter for me. It starts around mid-to-late December. I have time off from the day job, and I'm trying not to think too much about writing/editing. So what do I do? I read. Then, January comes, and I'm supposed to get back to work, but all I still want to do is read.
From December 24-January 21, I read fourteen books. A few I even read in one day (and I'm not talking novella-length books here). I loved it. There's nothing better than sitting home all day and reading. I wanted to take all my books and read them all at once--or at least one after the other. I couldn't get enough! Of course, those book binges should be kept to a minimum. After all, it makes it hard to get up after one of them. LOL! And I think I'm now sated and can read at my normal pace.
Do you book binge? Are do you prefer to take your time with books?
It often takes me weeks and weeks to get through a book, but once in a while I'll burn through several in just a couple weeks. And right now I am reading an ARC for someone and I WILL get through it in two weeks. Darn it!!
ReplyDeleteI book binged in January too, but not quite as fast as you LOL!
ReplyDeleteI have a bunch of books on my Kindle stacked up from prizes I won in contests, so I am set for a while!
I so know what you mean about wanting to do nothing but read sometimes, since I book-binge, too. Just this January, I read 25 books/comics. I already know there's no way February can live up to that!
ReplyDeleteI'm a book binger, and sometimes I don't stop! *LOL* I can't read fast enough for my liking.
ReplyDeleteI totally book binge. I might go months without reading a thing, then I eat up books. Figuratively, of course.
ReplyDeleteI think my days are so filled with work and kid stuff, my writing is already taking a back seat. Reading, is on the roof rack!
I book binge. I can go weeks without reading and then I will sit down for a couple of days and read, read, read...I'll read a whole stack, get my fix and then not read again for a couple of weeks. It has to do with timing for me. If I have the time, I'll take it and not stop.
ReplyDeleteI usually have one good book binge a year. I *want* more than that, but time just doesn't allow it. Mostly I try to squeeze in a few minutes of reading a day, but it's so worth it for a good story!
ReplyDeleteI want time to read like that...summer, when the extreme heat kicks in here (AZ), and it's plain too hot to do anything at all. Normal pace - what's that? Haven't had one in years! Best of Monday to you:)
ReplyDeleteI definitely book binge. Sometimes I'll go weeks or (rarely) months without reading, then just zip through a bunch of books.
ReplyDeleteAh, I miss the good ol' days of book bingeing! I never have time for it anymore. :( I do read everyday, but I have to squeeze it in around everything else.
ReplyDeleteI sometimes book binge, especially when I feel down about my own writing. Then I grab someone else's and feel all better because it takes my mind off of my own work.
ReplyDeleteI do go on book binges- usually when I have some time off. I read the rest of the time, but I do like to settle down with books and read them from start to finish. :)

I'm a book binger as well! In fact I'm in the middle of a binge right now. :)
ReplyDeleteI don't have the energy to binge on reading, although I would like to be able to get a lot of my books read. I've got WAY too many! They just sit on my shelves collecting dust--so sad...
ReplyDeleteI go on book binges, and tend to just wolf them down if I find I have time to read. Other than that, I read each night before bed, and each morning for at least a few minutes. I've been known to read a book in a day. Glad you got the time to get your binge on!

Do I book binge? I wish! If I allowed myself to start I'd never stop, and I wouldn't get any writing done! But I remember doing that in school holidays...
ReplyDeleteI love the phrase book binge. I never thought of it that way but it's appropriate. I've really wanted to just curl up and read lately whenever I'm not at work. For me I think it is partly the time of year, when it's dark so early I just want to go home and stick my nose in a book.
ReplyDeleteSadly, I don't book binge too well. Anything that can pull me right out of the plot will, and I'll get in an awkward stage where I want to finish the book but I can't seem to find the willpower to anymore. If anything though, it's a good lesson - always keep the reader hooked!
