I've been a fan of Ali's Desolation series, and she's having an extravaganza to name her next book. Today I have a character bio of Miriam "Miri" Carr. She's one of my favorite characters in the books, but I've always been partial to characters that can foretell the future.
MIRIAM "MIRI" CARR
Age: Sixteen
Favorite clothes: Comfy cotton capris, her St. Mary’s
sweatshirt and Keds.
Favorite weapon: Her smile and her faith.
Favorite drink: Peach strawberry smoothie.
Favorite food: Blackened chicken alfredo.
Favorite treat: Hershey’s milk chocolate kisses.
Miri’s excellent at keeping up appearances. School: Be Miss
Congeniality. Home: Curl up in the corner with a bottle of black malt whiskey.
Go too far with James, back off, give in again.
At least, that’s how it was until Desi showed up. Desi was
someone more messed up than her and there was something about her, something
that made Miri think that if Desi was willing to change, maybe she could, too.
Turns out that all Miri needed was someone to believe in her.
She’s still trying to figure herself out, but she loves her
horses and her dogs, and loves to paint all sorts of things—especially James.
It will probably take her whole lifetime, but she plans to keep trying until
she can capture that particular way James looks at her—that tiny crook in his
smile, that special shine in his eyes that she knows is meant just for her.

Sixteen-year old Desolation Black wants nothing more than to stay in Hell
where it’s cold and lonely and totally predictable. Instead, she’s sent back to
Earth where she must face the evil she despises and the good she always feared.
When Desi is forced to embrace her inner demon, she assumes her choice has
been made—that she has no hope of being anything other than what her father,
Lucifer, has created her to be. What she doesn’t count on, is finding a reason
to change—something she’s never had before—a friend.
Book #2 DESOLATE
Where darkness lives, all becomes desolate . . .
It’s been two months since sixteen-year-old Desolation Black chose Earth
over Hell and her friend Miri over her eternal love, Michael.
Desi goes through the motions of life: school, training, remaining vigilant
against the forces of darkness, but her dreams are full of the choices she
wishes she could change. When she’s injured by a strange demon, old temptations
arise, and the lines between good and evil blur. Desi discovers those choices
aren’t so final after all.
And this time, the power of love—for a friend, for a lover—may not be
enough to save her from the darkness that lurks within.
